Experience Authentic Fijian Village Life in the Namosi Highlands
Go beyond Fiji’s beaches and resorts and discover a side of the islands that few travellers experience. The Highland Village Homestay Experience in Fiji takes you into the beautiful Namosi Highlands for an immersive stay with a local Fijian family in Saliadrau Village. Surrounded by rainforest, mountains and peaceful rivers, this multi-day cultural experience gives you the opportunity to experience everyday village life rather than simply visiting for a few hours. Your journey begins with pickup from Nadi International Airport and a scenic drive towards Fiji’s interior. From Navua, the adventure continues into the highlands, where remote landscapes, rainforest and traditional communities replace the busy resort areas.
On arrival at the village, experience a warm Fijian welcome before taking part in a traditional sevusevu and kava ceremony. Meet your host family, learn important village customs and settle into your village accommodation. Throughout your stay, experiences may include rainforest walks, river swimming, bamboo rafting, river tubing, horse riding, traditional farming, fishing and learning about native plants used within the community. You can also discover traditional skills such as mat weaving and handicraft making, visit the local village school and spend time talking with villagers about their culture and everyday life. In the evening, experience the warmth of the community through traditional music, storytelling and cultural performances. Whether you stay for one night or several days, this is an opportunity to slow down, disconnect from the usual tourist trail and experience Fiji through the people, culture and landscapes of the Namosi Highlands.
